Three stages of thinking
Discover
Introduce the question or setting. Give children space to notice and think independently.
Connect
Invite discussion, different perspectives, reasoning and connections with what they know.
Consolidate
Capture ideas and reflections in the Field Journal. What has changed? What might they investigate next?
Choose your school context
English / Literacy lead
One Mission per fortnight in an English period is a practical suggested starting rhythm for primary schools, subject to local planning.
Several curriculum routes
Explore PSHE / Personal Development, English, Science, Geography, Art and enrichment. Choose the frequency and lesson setting that work for you.
Facilitating a Mission
Try questions such as “What makes you think that?”, “What else could explain it?” and “Has another perspective changed your thinking?” Encourage reasoned differences rather than rushing to one answer.
Acorn supplements existing teaching; it is not a replacement for prescribed curriculum content.
